Tall flowers. A dance floor waiting for people to remember whether they had ever liked dancing.
Near the entrance, classmates gathered around old photographs, pointing at haircuts and laughing at clothes everyone had once chosen with absolute confidence.
A man recognized Evan and shook his hand.
“You still doing computer stuff?”
“Yes.”
“Nice. You were always good with that.”
They talked for a minute. The man moved on. Evan did not volunteer the number of employees or explain what he could now afford.
