2. Exactly how I used it for all 14 days
I used plain white distilled vinegar, 5% acidity, nothing scented and nothing labeled as a cleaning concentrate with added ingredients. For most regular loads, I poured about 1/4 to 1/2 cup into the fabric softener dispenser. For larger loads of towels or bedding, I used closer to 1/2 cup. I did not pour it directly over dry clothes, and I did not mix it with bleach.
Because the dispenser releases liquid during the rinse cycle, the vinegar went in at the same stage fabric softener normally would. That was important. I still used my usual detergent in the detergent compartment and kept the wash settings
