3. Add the cloves
Add 4–6 whole cloves to the water. If you’re using ginger or a cinnamon stick, add them at this stage as well.
4. Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and gently simmer for 5–10 minutes.
The longer the tea simmers, the stronger and more intense the clove flavor will become.
5. Strain
Remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the tea through a fine-mesh strainer into cups to remove the cloves and other spices.
6. Add optional ingredients
Allow the tea to cool slightly before adding honey. Add lemon juice or lemon slices if desired.
7. Serve
Serve the clove tea warm and enjoy it slowly.
